The best pizza I have ever had. I don't like the rest of the food, but when you have great pizza- what else do you need? My daughter loves their spaghetti, ravioli, eggplant, and rum cake. I also like their Melone e Prosciutto. - 2 Stars by TriathlonGurl on 10/15/07
I really enjoy a delicious homemade marinara sauce, and was
optimistic about having it at Pines. But was sadly disappointed. It
tasted like a can of tomatoes with no seasoning at all. The house
wine was overpriced. Service was fine. - 5 Stars by GEchoGal on 09/08/07
I love this place. We have gone here for many many years. It is reasonable priced; relaxed; good food; good hefty glass of wine in a water glass -- not a 1/8 filled fancy wineglass -- don't go here if you are a fussy fancy person. - 4 Stars by takeout on 12/26/06
Take the family, grandma, the kids, this is a user friendly eating experience. I am Italian and the food is authentically "rustica"- the type of dinner you would make at home. Fresh ingredients, nothing pre-processed. We had friends visiting from Rome and they loved it! - 5 Stars by Rabbit on 12/21/06
In terms of value for price, Pines beats every place in Bethesda. The owner and waithelp are personable and knowledgeable. The venue is welcoming, warming, and pleasant if sometimes a little clattery. Some of the entrees are a little pricey, but the quality is great, and most of the menu is very reasonable. The first time (and every time since then), that I have had the stuffed Christmas goose, tears of joy came to my eyes. I also cried (in disappointment) after one Christmas season when I didn't get there in time for the goose (it's only on the menu for a short season). The red pizza with anchovies, and any of the cooked vegetables (especially the broccoli rabe) are exceptional values. If anybody has never had supreme liver and onions (not the leather soles like Mom used to make), Pines is the place. At Pines, even the house wine (that comes from a discrete gallon jug) tastes good.
