  I love sushi and love hibachi. I kind of thought Benihana's we the epitome of both so I was very disappointed by my recent trip there. First, I should say the sushi is excellent. Everything was very good. However the hibachi was terrible. My friends and I sat in the lounge since there was a 2 hour wait for the grill-tables. But we still ordered hibache. It was flavorless. We doused everything in those sauces but even they weren't very good. The chicken that came with mine was very overcooked, almost tasted like it had been microwaved. I couldn't eat much of it, and that's not like me at all. Very overpriced hibachi considering how bland it was. Go to BDs or Mongolian Grill and mix up your hibachi, cheaper and it'll taste much better.

  I love their lunch "boats". They used to have some more variety,
  with some more lunch trays, but recently reduced it down to three
  kinds of lunch boats. None-the-less, for the $8-9 you get a lot of
  lunch, with a salad and Miso soup included. Definitely a good deal
  for Japanese food! The sushi bar chef is authentic, and always
  beams a big smile when one says (probably butchered, in my case)
  "Gooshi soo sama deshita!"

  Maybe my expectations were to high. But i remember going to a Benihana in the area i grew up in and being amazed by the food and the show. But the one on wisconsin has lost the magic. We took our son and his friends for his birthday and it was a little disappointing. Since then we have forund a much better japanese steak house in gaithersburg called Ziki's. We have gone there quite a few times with our son now to make up for the disappointed birthday.
