Pros: excellent crab and fixings. Cons: a bit noisy and chaotic. Seats are a bit old and sticky. But, I guess that's what a crab place is supposed to be...

Bethesda Crab House has been my "Go-to" place for over twenty years when I get my crab craving. This restaurant serves crabs year round. I always call to make a reservation for my crabs so I am guaranteed the biggest and they are ready when I arrive. The tables are covered in newspaper (I can catch up on the news!) The crabs are hot and fresh, coming from both the Bay and Louisiana. The shrimp are the best- I have never seen or eaten any better or bigger. The crab cakes are consistently awesome, too! They make them in-house with fresh (not pasteurized) crab meat. I have such a great time going with my family or by myself. It's great to know there is a restaurant in Bethesda that has stayed the same since it opened 47 years ago (as the manager recently told me). I highly recommend this place if you love seafood and don't mind gettin' a little messy!!! Remember to keep your suit at home and cruise in for the best crabs around!

I love Bethesda Crab House! The crabs are fresh, the shrimp are huge, and the corn is incredibly sweet! It's a lot of fun to come here with friends after a long day at work. It's been open since 1961 and not a lot has changed...it's not about image here, but essence, as the food is fantastic and the wait staff are very positive and usually fast in getting the food to your table. There is nothing like it here; it feels like I am in Annapolis, minus the beautiful sunsets and boats docked nearby...a gem in the heart of a town that is bustling and becoming a little too chic for me!

If you love places that would cheat young school children, this is the place for you. Having placed an order months in advance, and carefully checked the order right up until the day beore, B.Crab House ON THE DAY of the class for a public LS said they could not fill that order--they thought they'd prefer to not sell "for a bunch of kids". This order had been to teach grades K-5 about the Chesapeake Bay, crabs, and then to hold a crabfeast. We were paying full price--no special deals at all. To top that off, the owner got on the phone and told us "to go %$#^& off"--he "didn't want a bunch of "crappy kids" and "mother-&*^%%" as customers. No politeness and respectful reminders that this had been arranged in advance made a difference. He hung up. Amazingly, Cameron's Seafood--two blocks away--and with NO notice--supplied us that very morning with fantastic crabs at about 2/3 the cost B Crab House had agreed upon...and Cameron's gave us ALL Jimmies. I'd suggest you go up the extra two blocks and use a REAL Bethesda-caring business, with much better crabs etc. than BCH. BCH should have been run out of business ages ago.
